The Lakers have their work cut out in order to achieve the goal of qualifying for the NBA Playoffs in 2023, but they're doing what's required to make a run.

At this juncture of the season, each game is crucial. Despite trailing by as many as 27 points on Sunday in Dallas, LA stuck with it to earn its third-straight victory by completing the largest comeback of the 2022-23 NBA season to defeat the Mavericks.

Anthony Davis finished with a game-high 30 points and 15 rebounds, LeBron James finished with 26 points, and Jarred Vanderbilt served as a spark plug with 15 points, 17 rebounds and four steals in the win.

LA moves to 29-32 on the season with the franchise's largest comeback since the 2002-03 season. Dallas falls to 32-30 with the loss.

Schroder goes 2-for-2 and Kyrie Irving's halfcourt heave comes up short.

The Lakers complete their largest comeback in over 20 years to earn a 111-108 win.

6:11 p.m. —Dallas intentionally fouls Anthony Davis, who splits a pair of free throws to put LA up by four.

Justin Holiday sinks a wide-open 3 to cut the deficit to one.

Lakers 109, Mavericks 108.5.4 seconds remain.

6:09 p.m. —Hello Jarred Vanderbilt.

LA's do-it-all ace forces a turnover and Dallas doesn't even get a chance to tie the game.

The Lakers have it out of bounds on the side and have called a timeout as they look to sink free throws to ice the game and complete the comeback.

6:07 p.m. —As expected, it's coming down to the wire.

An Anthony Davis turnaround jumper gives LA a three-point lead with 18 seconds remaining. Davis is up to 29 points in the game.

5:55 p.m. —The Mavericks have regained the lead, if only for now.

Luka Doncic converts an and-one to bring his total up to 23 points and Dallas has a one-point lead.

After a few empty possessions, Darvin Ham calls a timeout to draw something up for his team.

Mavericks 98, Lakers 97.3:43 remains in regulation.

5:48 p.m. —Things are getting very interesting down the stretch here as the Lakers look to build upon their lead. An Austin Reaves layup puts LA up by three points as the fourth quarter rolls on.

5:38 p.m. —A LeBron James 3-pointer knots it up at 81 apiece.

The Lakers get a stop and then take the lead on the ensuing possession courtesy of James.

5:35 p.m. —We've got a game on our hands.

After trailing by as many as 27 in the game, LA enters the fourth quarter down by just three points. The Lakers outscored the Mavericks 31-20 in the third quarter.

Anthony Davis' 22 points lead all scorers while LeBron James has added 15 points and Jarred Vanderbilt has been huge with 13 points, 13 rebounds and four steals.

Luka Doncic's 20 points lead the way for Dallas, which has also enjoyed 17 points from Tim Hardaway Jr. and 15 points from Kyrie Irving.

This one could come down to the wire.

5:25 p.m. —LeBron James just went down with an apparent right foot injury.

He's been running gingerly but as he attempts to work the injury out, appears to be remaining in the game. His situation will be one to monitor as the game continues.

5:17 p.m. —A timely response from Dallas.

Thanks largely in part to the effort of Jarred Vanderbilt the Lakers cut the deficit to five points, but the Mavericks respond with a 3-pointer to give themselves some breathing room. Timeout on the floor.

Mavericks 75, Lakers 67.5:09 remains in the third.

5:10 p.m. —Here come the Lakers.

A transition layup from Jarred Vanderbilt brings LA within 11 points with plenty of basketball left to play. Vanderbilt is up to nine points and nine rebounds in the game while Anthony Davis is up to a game-high 20 points.

Dallas has cooled down some after its first-half shooting clinic.

4:45 p.m. —LA isn't exactly going away. After trailing by as many as 27, the Lakers close the half of a 16-5 run to cut the deficit to 14.

While Dallas shot 12-for-23 from 3-point range, LA shot just 3-for-21 from deep, making for a stark difference. In getting things back within striking distance, the Lakers can hang around in this one.

Luka Doncic didn't score in the second — now he and Tim Hardaway Jr. lead all scorers with 14 points. Kyrie Irving isn't too far behind with 12 points.

LeBron James is shooting 4-for-11 from the field but leads the Lakers with 12 points while Anthony Davis has added 11 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the field.

4:27 p.m. —The Mavericks continue to roll and their lead is up to 27 points.

Dallas is shooting 10-for-17 from 3-point range while the Lakers have missed all 14 of their 3-point attempts. As a team, LA is shooting 8-for-36 from the field.

LeBron James leads the Lakers with 8 points on 3-for-10 shooting while Luka Doncic leads the Mavericks with 14 points on 5-for-8 shooting. Kyrie Irving and Tim Hardaway Jr. have scored nine points apiece and Christian Wood has added eight points.

4:19 p.m. —It's all Mavericks early on … and not a lot of Lakers.

Dallas' red-hot shooting continues into the second quarter as it's now 9 for 15 from deep while LA's now 0 for 12. The Mavericks' lead has ballooned to 20 points and Darvin Ham has signaled for a timeout.

4:12 p.m. —Defense turns into offense for the Mavericks, as a Tim Hardaway Jr. block results in a layup for Luka Doncic, who finishes the first quarter with a game-high 14 points.

Dallas is on fire from deep, where it has connected on seven of its 13 3-point attempts.

LA, on the other hand, is shooting 6-for-26 (23.1 percent) from the field, including 0-for-10 from the field. Anthony Davis leads the way with six points on 3-for-6 shooting while LeBron James has four points on 1-for-6 shooting.

4:05 p.m. —It's Luka Doncic's world and the Lakers are just living in it.

Doncic is up to 12 points in the first quarter and has connected on all three of his 3-point attempts. For the Lakers, Anthony Davis leads the way with six points.
